The persistent organic fluorinated compound PFOS is regulated under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and in Japan, it is designated as a Type 1 specified chemical substance under the Chemical Substances Control Law. Additionally, PFOA is designated as a Type 1 monitored chemical substance under the same law and is subject to REACH regulations along with other organic fluorinated compounds.
